Southern Thailand is composed of six other regions on the Malay Peninsula, including Phuket, Krabi province and Central Gulf Coast. The largest city is Hat Yai, while Krabi is the base for islands and beaches. Get to Southern Thailand by air, served by international airports in different regions. There are ten major cities in Southern Thailand, each of them offering something wonderful to tourists. The diverse region has mountains, forests, rice fields and tropical islands worthy of your visit.
One of the best sites to see in Southern Thailand are the Hongs, which are mysterious open-air caves of sheer limestone cliffs. They are found on the Andaman Sea. The Hongs can be accessed by long tail boat or sea canoe during low tide. Booking an excursion to this attraction is recommended, for it includes boat rides and Thai meals.
Phuket is one of the top islands in Southern Thailand, where one can choose from luxurious to more budget-friendly beach resorts. Explore the island paradise by diving, fishing or simply walking along the shores with your loved one.
Travelers who want a more affordable beach escapade can head to Sao Nang, Trang and Krabi. These areas make Thailand a tropical paradise that is worth every penny. Witness how majestic the beaches are, or take a moment to see some towering limestone karsyts. Diving enthusiasts should go to Ko Tao, which is famous for its dive spots.
Nature lovers looking for some thrilling activities can go to Khao Sok National Park, where they can spend a night in one of the charming huts while doing their kind of activity during the day.
