Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort is a small charming nature resort nestled in the wilderness of the Lower Kinabatangan floodplain. The Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort is surrounded by pristine freshwater swamps and mangrove forest. It is internationally recognized as an important wetland’s area and an attraction for those who find solace in the presence of stunning wildlife.
The river is one of the best places in Southeast Asia to experience wildlife and is considered the top experience when visiting Borneo.
The highlight of staying at the lodge is the river cruises in search of some of the 10 primate species living in the area. The river is home to many of Borneo’s magnificent wildlife, such as the famous Bornean pygmy elephants, orangutans, proboscis monkeys and the big hornbill birds.
The standard packages at Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort comes as 2 or 3 nights, including river cruises in search of wildlife, nature guides, full board, transfers, and accommodation.
All packages also include a visit to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Sandakan.
All Chalets are big and luxurious and takes up to 2 extra beds which makes them the preferred resort in the area to stay for families.
From Sandakan, there is a 1 ½ hour transfer by boat to the resort.
