Penang National Park – Hiking Day Trip
Penang National Park is a tropical rainforest located in the northwest corner of Penang Island, and it is known as the smallest national park in Malaysia. It is about an hour away from Georgetown, or just a short drive from Batu Ferringhi.
Meet up with your guide in the hotel lobby and onward your journey to the national park. Upon arrival at the park, you will need to register yourself and you will be on your way. We will take you to Kerachut Beach which is also known as Turtle Beach. The hike to Turtle Beach goes up over a steep hill with some concrete steps and the rest are mostly jungle tracks leading you off the beaten track. Therefore, it is recommended to wear good comfortable hiking shoes and with a fitness level at average.
This trip will cover the Turtle Sanctuary, Meromictic Lake, and Coastal Forest at Pantai Kerachut with one boat ride back to the entrance where you get to see a bit of the national park from the boat ride. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed at Turtle Beach as imposed by the authorities. Instead, enjoy the beach itself and the wonderful rocks at the lake end of the beach. This tour takes approximately 6-hours, depending on your fitness level.
There are no stalls in the jungle, please bring enough drinking water, snacks or energy bars for this hiking trip. Return to the hotel after lunch.
