Sandakan City Tour & Rainforest Discovery Centre
Nestled on the coastline of Borneo, Sandakan is a vibrant city with a rich culture and history. With stunning landscapes, iconic landmarks, and unique wildlife. On this city tour, we will take a closer look at some of the most notable attractions in Sandakan, including St Michael Church, the Central Market, Tam Kung Temple, Puu Jih Syh Buddhist Temple, and Sim-Sim Water Village which is a traditional village build on stilts in the water. A trip to the village allows visitors to get a glimpse of the traditional way of life on the water.
After lunch, we will proceed to the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) to discover the uniqueness and importance of Borneo’s rainforests. The RDC’s main highlights are its exhibition halls, the Plant Discovery Garden, and the Rainforest Walk and you may enjoy practising your balancing skills by crossing a short suspension bridge.
The RDC Canopy Walkway is one of few such structures in Southeast Asia. It is 2m wide and about 347m long with 2 towers, and about 25m above the ground. In the exhibition hall, there is a great deal of information about nature, wildlife and other interesting things.
